Last June, I came down with a mild case of #shingles that showed up across my right shoulder and chest. The rash didn’t last long—but even now, many months later, I still feel a bit of lingering pain in my upper right arm.
Thankfully, it’s only minor pain—and it hasn’t stopped me from typing, exercising, or doing the things I love. I'm 89 years old and still able to carry on with my daily work, even if I don’t type quite as fast as a 40-year-old.
My doctor told me I’ve done all the right things to promote healing. Every morning, I follow a personal wellness program that includes:
-
A daily set of calisthenics to keep my joints and lymph system moving
-
A full-body self-massage using a mixture of castor oil and olive oil
-
Plenty of water, rest, and a good attitude
I want to share this—not to give advice just yet, but to say this: #healing takes time. Especially when nerves are involved.
If you’re going through something similar, don’t get discouraged. #Recovery happens slowly, but it happens.
When I’ve made a little more progress, I’ll be ready to tell you exactly what worked best for me. Until then, stay strong, stay hopeful, and keep moving.
