Varicose Veins
The varicose veins that most people are concerned about are the unsightly blue spider web veins near the surface of the feet and legs that can be seen through the skin.
Many of today’s jobs like doctors, lawyers, teachers, pilots, cops, office workers and truck drivers require long periods of standing or setting without allowing enough physical movement for the muscles to help pump blood back to the heart. Tight fitting shoes and other articles of clothing also impede the free flow of blood.
Self-help is our first line of defense. Any movement that causes our muscles to work will aid in the recovery, or prevention. It takes about six weeks for a physically fit person’s muscles to loose their tone and become flabby; and it takes about the same amount of time to re-tone the muscles—tough world this.
Possible Solution For Varicose Veins
Part of the solution is diet related. Some foods like starches and sweets quickly digest and send the blood chemistry on a roller-coaster ride. This promotes a lethargic body, which is not conducive to an active lifestyle.
One approach to keeping your blood chemistry more even is to eat more greens and other foods that are low on the glycemic index. Go easy on things like refined cereal grain products, root vegetables, fruits and sugars. Don’t allow yourself to get to hungry before dosing yourself with the proper food chemicals.
