Does a Human Body Need Water for Health?
Dr. Batmanghelidi is probably the world’s leading authority on our needs for water. His book: You’re not sick, You’re Thirsty! is a great book for understanding your many needs for water. He has spent his life teaching us how to keep our bodies properly hydrated. He reckons that most of our health problems are simply that we are depriving ourselves of adequate water.
We Have a Drought Managing System that Sets Strict Priorities
The brain is first. Our eyes are an extension of our brains. If we are experiencing dry, itchy eyes, our brain is also in need of water. By the time we have a dry mouth, we have many other parts of our bodies in desperate need of water.
Our Brains and our hundred trillion cells float in a sea of salt and water, at the consistency of the salty seas. Our hidden control system keeps this salt-water under strict control. If we don’t drink enough water, our bodies retain extra fluid to help maintain this careful balance of salt and water.
Each cell is a tiny battery that runs on salt and water.
We should not wait until we are thirsty before we drink water.
If we wait until we’re thirsty, we have driven our body into a form of DROUGHT” A prolonged shortage of water. Older people have already lost their sense of thirst. We quite often drink soda, tea, coffee, or beer, thinking that the water content will be good for us
The chemicals in these drinks will not do the job of water for our bodies and brains.
Chemicals like caffeine, alcohol, and the colorings in our modern drinks cause our bodies to expel more fluids than is in the tasty drink that we enjoy so much. We drink our coffee or soda when our body is crying for water, then we pee out more than we drank, and our body still says it is thirsty.
Our bodies and brains are just asking for some humble, unpretentious water; no flavorings or taste enhancers are needed

I have a small cup that holds about 6 ounces. I try to keep on schedule to drink that cup of water—plain tap water at room temperature. That is not much but, that satisfies needs and helps me avoid having a bloated feeling. When I want coffee, soda, beer, or (what-ever-other thirst quencher; I simply take my warm water first. This also helps me avoid drinking too much liquid after supper.
